Over the years, the agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation committed to professional international exchanges by following the New Southern Policy, assisted neighboring countries in soil and water conservation work, and exported our soil and water conservation experience and displayed our achievements. the agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation and Pingtung University of Science and Technology have established an international demonstration zone for soil and water conservation to facilitate short-term training courses for international soil and water conservation professionals.
In order to more effectively make use of the International Demonstration Zone for Soil and Water Conservation, cultivate international professionals, and emphasize the teaching and learning in the International Demonstration Zone, an English course on Introduction to Soil and Water Conservation Engineering is being planned at the International College of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. The relevant topics include: introduction of international demonstration area, hydrology of catchment area, numerical topographic mapping, vegetation survey, soil introduction, soil and sand disaster and etc. Through the on-site explanation and inspection of the International Soil and Water Conservation Demonstration Area, the students have a more specific understanding of soil and water conservation.
In addition, this office aims to develop materials for international exchange and promotion by enhancing and compiling audiovisual teaching resources on soil and water conservation techniques. We plan to add 10 new English-language audiovisual courses on soil and water conservation methods, including Artificial Pathway Compaction, Stone Pitching, Slope Protection with Cross Ties, Wood Control Engineering, Stone Pitching for Intercepting Ditches, Wood, Earth, and Stone Steps, Soil Bag Trenches, Stone Pitching for Stilling Basins, Block Stone Steps, and Gabion Slope Protection. Each course will document the construction steps of the methods to facilitate their use in international exchanges.
Through courses offered by the International Teaching Section, we aim to increase opportunities for collaboration and exchange with other countries in the field of soil and water conservation. The course also focuses on promoting international educational exchange in soil and water conservation, taking a proactive step toward supporting the "Bilingual Nation 2030" policy.
